ShopFiles General

What is Shopfiles?
My name is Jimmy Pisano and I have created this product over the last 17 years of working in our family glass business.

Shopfiles is a combination of forms, checklists and software that will help you organize, estimate and create a more productive shop.  Most of us use variations of these forms in our business every day.   Shopfiles can change that wall of auto glass insurance discounts letters to a couple of pages of forms with all their billing and discount information.  GlassPricer software can remove the guesswork from pricing square foot based products.  The radius chart will ensure you accurate pattern making and ordering.  These are just a few of the useful things that Shopfiles will do for you and your business.

How do I use the forms provided in ShopFiles?
The forms included in Shopfiles are designed to provide solutions to many common glass business problems.

Glass businesses of any size and in every facet of the industry can benefit from the use of some of these forms.  Ultimately you will decide how this product will be used throughout your organization.

How do I use the software provided in ShopFiles?
Shopfiles  software provides easy estimation software for the flat and commercial glazing sectors of the industry.  In addition, price charts can be printed for "on the fly" estimation.  Powerful linear optimization software is also included  and can be used on any linear metal, vinyl or wood profile.
Can I get replacement forms?
Shopfiles is now available in PDF format and can be printed out any time.
What if I have some ideas for forms?
I would love to hear any ideas for additional forms for future product updates.  Please email me any ideas.  If your forms are used, you will get recognition on the form and receive a complimentary hard copy of the next version of the Shopfiles Manual .
What type of support is provided with this product?
In an attempt to keep Shopfiles affordable for any sized glass business, software support is limited to software documentation and internet resources.   The Support section of this website will continue to grow with input from software users.  This Q&A section addresses many common questions on the software included with this package.  Additional support is available via email.  All support questions will be answered within 2 business days, and the Support section of the site is updated frequently to address new concerns.  Look for additional support with future versions of Shopfiles.
What's in the future for ShopFiles?
I am excited by the future of this product.  I hope you will find this product useful and valuable to your glass business.  Shopfiles will continue to grow as long as there is an interest in the industry.  Future products in the works for Shopfiles include auto glass invoicing, replacement window estimation and custom shower pricing.

WindowPricer 2.0

How does WindowPricer calculate a window price?

Window Pricer adds the total price of glass, linear metal and joint fabrication to calculate a total window price.  Factors that affect this price are:

  • Metal component prices
  • Glass square foot price
  • intermediate horizontal and vertical members.  WindowPricer assumes through-running vertical frame members.
  • Joint fabrication price

Component prices are displayed when the price is updated.

Can I add installation to the price of the window?
You can add a flat price for installation per window.  This price will be calculated by pressing the Calculate/Re-Calculate button.
Can I print estimates?
WindowPricer 2.0 does not print estimates.
How do I calculate my metal prices?

Metal prices are based on 5 types of components used in most commercial window manufacturing:

  • Head
  • Base
  • Side
  • Inner Horizontal
  • Inner Vertical

Each of these components may consist of many parts (main member, backer plates, stops) all of which must be calculated into the metal price.  In addition, metal prices should also contain gaskets, caulk, backer rod, sill plate, etc.    Your total cost of material, profit and material loss per stocklength must be taken into account when calculating a price for the component.

How is the glass price calculated?

Glass price is calculated by the square footage and should include, total cost of product, profit, material loss, etc.

Can I use this software for other projects (enclosures, framed mirrors, etc.)?

You will find that WindowPricer will suit a variety of window and non-window related projects.
